Digital data transmission over short distances
Today there are 2 significantly established standards for the implementation of short range communication:
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is referred to as a “wireless” local radio network.
Bluetooth for wireless radio networking of devices over short distances. Bluetooth offers a wireless interface for small mobile devices such as cellular telephones and PDA’s as well as computers and peripheral devices to communicate with each other. The main purpose of Bluetooth is the removal of the “hard-wired” connection between devices.
